Culture Contest Ramadan 1427

As salaamu alaikum all. MAS has received many excellent entries for the culture contest, and we will be displaying them after Jumu'ah prayers at the MCA Banquet Hall on December 1st insha Allah.

The announcment for the winners will be held after Isha prayer that evening.

We will do our best to display all of your entries in the best way; if you did not send the original and would like to bring it, feel free to do so, otherwise we will show a reproduction based on what you sent by email.

The Muslim American Society in the San Francisco Bay Area is committed to helping the local Muslim community develop its religious, social, educational and cultural identity, while at the same time thrive in and engage with the rest of the bay area community. To that end, we have been working to sponsor efforts, such as the local Muslim Film Festival earlier this year, which showed films from Muslims around the world, and now we are working to encourage Muslim artists of this area to produce and exhibit their own art.

So MAS is organizing a contest for local Muslims' artistic endeavors. If you have anything that can remotely be called "art", and reflects the Islamic experience in some way, then enter it in our contest during Ramadan. A panel of judges will choose the top three entries and will announce the winners at our upcoming Eid event, after which the entries will be returned to their owners.

Example genres of Islamic art include but are not limited to:

• painting
• poetry
• fiction
• music
• film
• ceramics

To that end, we have organized a contest for local Muslims' artistic endeavors. Cash prizes for winning entries are:

• First place: $300
• Second place: $200
• Third place: $100
