2004- 2005 Muslim American Society. MAS
Youth Give MAS Youth Give is a project of the Muslim American Society (MAS). Started in March, 2001, MAS Youth Give is focused on mobilizing American Muslim youth to help create a better society by instilling in them the need for service and giving to those in less fortunate circumstances. At least once a month, we coordinate volunteer activities with a variety of service organizations, from house-building for low income residents to helping with Special Olympics. Our activities include enough variety to meet everybody’s interests. MAS believes that truly successful activism can only be truly achieved if it is preceded by knowledge and sincerity. All MAS activities work on developing this comprehensive, well-rounded and balanced personality. A crucial part of this personality is the compassion that drives someone
to help others. Jazakum Allahu khairun to all the volunteers who helped make the events wonderful successes. InshaAllah, the intention was pure and only for the sake of Allah
(swt). Our variety of work helps accommodate volunteers of all ages and interests. We hope to see you at our next event inshaAllah.
We volunteered at the Habitat for Humanity chapter in Concord. Habitat
for Humanity builds homes for low income families. They are able to
make these homes affordable by relying on volunteers to much of the
construction work. The twelve MAS Youth Give volunteers helped put
on the roof to a house. Loaves and Fishes is a soup kitchen in San Jose. The five MAS Youth

and a drink. Some of the morning volunteers traveled to San Francisco
on BART, where we met up with more afternoon volunteers. After praying
dhuhr at the Jones St. masjid, we split up into four teams and went
in four directions in order to deliver the lunches and a warm smile
to whomever needed it.Afterwards, we met up at the masjid, prayed 'asr,
and discussed the day.InshaAllah, the intention was pure and only for
the sake of Allah (swt). May Allah accept our effort and deeds. Special Olympics provides year-round sports training and competition in a variety of Olympics-type sports for people eight years of age and older with developmental disabilities. This year, the event was held in Berkeley at Berkeley High School

went over flashcards with the kids and helped them write thank you
letters. We had a very busy day, and alhamdulillah a very productive
time. Bridge to Bridge is an annual run that raises money to benefit Special Olympics, another organization with which we work. The 12K run starts at the Bay Bridge and ends at the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. It is rated one of the most beautiful runs in the world! Our fifteen volunteers were the split timers for the race. At every
mile marker, the runners heard two Muslims calling out their times.
Alhamdulillah we had a very fun and productive time. Our help was appreciated
by the runners and the organizers. We pray that Allah (swt) accepts
our deeds. November 17, 2002This was our second annual Share your Lunch Day. Over 40 volunteers showed up to help make bag lunches and distribute them to the homeless. bag lunches of sandwiches, fruit, cookies, and a drink. Some of the
