The demand of the Muslim community for speakers is ever growing. Alhamdu Lillah, MAS Bay Area has a great team of qualified brothers and sisters who are well versed in Islam and can address the community with great substantial and relevant information.
Some of the programs we our speakers can cover:

  2. Special seminars (Prayer seminar, Marriage Seminar. Etc)

Nihad Mahmoud Mourad

Nihad Mourad was born in Egypt in 1963 and came to the US with her husband, Tarek Mourad, in 1982. She has a Bachelors of Science in Computer Science, a California teaching credential in Mathematics, and a Masters degree in Mathematics with an emphasis in education, all from San Jose State University. Her Islamic education has been attainted through years of attending halaqas, participating in training and educational programs within the Muslim American Society, and attending halaqas in the masjid.

She is currently the Vice Principal of Granada Islamic School (GIS) in Santa Clara. Given her strong background in education and education theory, she handles mainly academic affairs for the school, including curriculum, grades, admissions, and books.

Sister Nihad has been involved in da’wah work for many years, mostly at the local masjid, the Muslim Community Association (MCA). She has conducted an English-speaking sisters’ halaqah for a number of years. She has spoken at the university level about Islam and has participated in several Open House events in the local masjid hosting guests of other faiths.

She enjoys speaking to small classes, as opposed to large conference crowds, and likes addressing halaqas and giving khatiras. Her favorite age to address is high school and college age.

Khaled Hamade

Khaled Hamade was born in Beirut, Lebanon in 1971 and has been living in the US since 1988. He has a Bachelors degree in Mathematics and a Masters degree in Educational Administration.

He is currently the President of Cal Micro, Inc., a position he has held since 1998. His experience with Islamic da’wah activities is immense. He was a teacher and the Arabic Coordinator for the Muslim Community Association (MCA) Sunday School from 1992 to 1997. He was the MCA Youth Halaqah coordinator from 1995 to 1997. From 1998 to 2000, he was made coordinator for the Al Arqam Qur’an School in Santa Clara. He was a board member for the Granada Islamic School (GIS) in Santa Clara from 2000 to 2003 and the Board Chairman for GIS from 2003 to 2005.

Brother Khaled has been delivering khutbas in several Bay Area masjids and universities since 1995.

Munir Iqtish

Munir Qtaish is an active member of the Muslim American Society (MAS) Bay Area Chapter and a well-known speaker. He has received his Islamic knowledge, and continues to do so, through scholars and MAS’ personal development programs. He is active amongst Bay Area Islamic centers, college campuses, and youth study circles and activities. He has extensive knowledge concerning high school and college-youth issues and challenges, and has over seven years of experience working with the youth as a mentor and a counselor.

Brother Munir addresses a wide variety of topics, including the Muslim character, Islamic spirituality, and Islamic identity, amongst others.

Bhawana Kamil

Bhawana Kamil was born in Oakland, California in 1979 while her parents were students at UC Berkeley. She was raised in the Bay Area, mostly in Fremont. She received a Bachelors of Science in Chemistry from UC Berkeley. Soon after graduating, she accepted Islam in September of 2000.

Sister Bhawana traveled overseas to Cairo, Egypt for a few years with her husband, Najeeb Kamil, from 2003 to 2005. She completed the Arabic Language Program at Al Diwan Center. She also received a graduate diploma in Islamic Studies from the Higher Institute of Islamic Studies after completing the two-year program.

Sister Bhawana is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Philosophy from San Jose State University. She is an active member of the Muslim American Society, and pursues further Islamic education and participation in da’wah activities through their programs.

She has spoken at a variety of settings, including schools, universities, churches, conferences, and camps on several topics including ‘An Introduction to Islam,’ ‘Women in Islam,’ ‘Challenges Facing Muslim Youth in the West,’ ‘The Importance of Specialization,’ and ‘Geography of the Muslim World.’

She enjoys participating in interfaith activities and being involved with university activities.

Feras Alhlou

Feras Alhlou is an active member of the Muslim American Society (MAS) Bay Area Chapter and a well-known speaker. He has a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering and a Masters degree in Engineering Management. He currently runs an internet and marketing consulting firm in Santa Clara.

He has received his Islamic knowledge, and continues to do so, through scholars and MAS’ personal development programs. He is active amongst Bay Area Islamic centers, college campuses, and youth study circles and activities.

He is a co-founder of MAS Youth Give, a volunteer based organization that mobilizes youth to volunteer and provide social services to the community, including feeding the homeless, planting trees, Special Olympics, and building low-income housing.

Brother Feras has addressed a wide variety of topics, including youth identity and character, spirituality, inter-gender relationships from an Islamic perspective, and the role of Muslim youth in creating positive change in our society.

He is married to Ghaidaa Mousabacha, and together they have three children, Abdullah, Yousur and Youmun.

Tarek Mahmoud Mourad

Tarek Mourad was born in Cairo, Egypt in 1954. He moved to Kuwait at a young age, where he received his early education and some high school at the British Embassy school and the American Embassy school. He finished high school in New York when his family moved there in 1969. He graduated in 1971 with majors in science and math. He received his Bachelors of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Cornell University in 1976.

He went to Egypt to marry Nihad Mourad, and returned to Santa Clara after searching for a job in New York to no avail. He is currently a software engineer manager, specializing in software quality control.

Brother Tarek’s Islamic education has come primarily through study circles, personal reading, and MAS’ educational programs.

He specializes in presenting Islam to people of other faiths and mentoring new Muslims. He enjoys presenting the “big picture” of Islam, relating Islam to the world at large, and giving a historical perspective of Islam. Brother Tarek has spoken often in churches and schools and interfaith events. He has developed several presentations, including a short introduction to Islam, Islamic contributions to civilization, and Jihad.

Najeeb Ashraf Kamil

Najeeb Kamil was born in Oakland, California in 1977 while his father was a student at UC Berkeley, and grew up in the Bay Area. He received his Bachelors degree in Molecular Cell Biology from UC Berkeley in 2000.

Brother Najeeb traveled overseas to Cairo, Egypt for a few years with his wife, Bhawana Kamil, from 2003 to 2005. He completed the Arabic Language Program at Al Diwan Center. He also received a graduate diploma in Islamic Studies from the Higher Institute of Islamic Studies after completing the two-year program.

After having worked in the bio-technology field for several years, Najeeb hopes to make a career shift and enter the field of social work. He currently works for Muslim American Society (MAS) and intends to pursue his Masters in Social Work in Fall, 2006.

He has extensive experience working with Muslim youth, and ran the Muslim Community Association (MCA) youth halaqah for several years. He has been an active leader, coordinator, and participant of MAS youth activities since 2001. Brother Najeeb has given khutbas in schools and on university campuses, as well as short reminders and workshops at camps, conferences, and retreats.

Sh. Mohamed Moctar Shinqiti

A writer, poet, teacher, scholar and political analyst. He was born in 1966 in the Islamic Republic of Mauritania. He earned an Ijazah in memorization of the Holy Quran in 1981, a Bachelors Degree and Ijazah in Islamic Jurisprudence (fiqh) and Translation (Arabic-French-English). He has taught Tafsir, Fiqh, and Arabic Grammar in Mauritania, Yemen and the United States. He writes extensively on political thought, Islamic literature, Islamic Movements, dialogue between the Islamic World and the West, and American Policies and politics. His articles are constantly published on AlJazeera.net, Fiqhsyasi.net and IslamOnline.net.

Dr. Hisham Abdallah

Dr. Hisham Abdallah is a researcher at Roche International with a PhD in Clinical Pharmacology. He lives in the Bay Area of California with his family of seven. Dr. Hisham has a degree in Shari'ah, and has taught several courses at the Islamic American University. His focus is on the source-methodology of Fiqh and the global objectives of the Shari'ah. He is a frequent guest speaker at mosques, universities, and conferences across the Bay Area. Dr. Hisham is active in the Muslim American Society (MAS) and currently serves on the national Board of Trustees for MAS.

Ustadh Suhaib Webb

Ustadh Suhaib Webb was born in 1972 and raised in the State of Oklahoma, USA. During his teens he became a Hip Hop DJ and made many records with different artists and bands. Suhaib Webb converted to Islam at the age of 20. He completed his degree in Elementary Education and served as Imam for the Islamic Society of Greater Oklahoma City. He moved to the Bay Area and is currently in his first year of studies at Al-Azhar University in Cairo. While in the States brother Suhaib works with MAS at many local and national levels.
