Quran & Race

Gather your family and friends for the Quran & Race, a joyful community event that combines faith, fitness, and purpose! Whether you’re running a 2K or 5K, this is your chance to stay active, strengthen family bonds, and connect with the Quran—all while following the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ.

In the spirit of the Prophet ﷺ, who recited certain surahs and ayahs on a regular basis, participants will join a Quran Recitation Component the day before the race (July 19th). While highly encouraged, Quran memorization and recitation are not required to participate in the race. If you choose to memorize and recite, you will receive a link to join a virtual recitation session on July 19th.

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ had specific Surahs and Ayahs he would often recite as part of his regular worship and to seek blessings, protection, and closeness to Allah.

The Last Three Surahs (Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, An-Nas)

Known as Al-Mu’awwidhat (the Protectors), the Prophet ﷺ would recite these before sleeping and blow into his hands, wiping them over his body for protection.

Ayatul-Kursi (2:255)

The Prophet ﷺ said Ayat Al-Kursi provides protection from Shaytan when recited before sleeping. (Bukhari)

The last 2 Ayahs for Surah Al-Baqarah (2:285-286)

The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever recites the last two verses of Surah Al-Baqarah at night, it will suffice him." (Bukhari, Muslim)

Surah Al-Mulk

The Prophet ﷺ encouraged reciting Surah Al-Mulk every night before sleeping, saying, "It is a protector; it protects from the punishment of the grave." (Tirmidhi, Nasai)

Surah As-Sajda and Surah Al-Insan

The Prophet ﷺ frequently recited these two Surahs during the Fajr prayer on Fridays, but they were also known to be part of his night recitations.

Surah Al-Kahf

The Prophet ﷺ said that whoever recites Surah Kahf on Friday, it will illuminate him with light from one Friday to the next, according to a hadith.
